How does Tempo work?
You choose the apps to block. Each minute of exercise (read from Apple Health) credits you screen-time minutes, which you spend app by app. When the time runs out, iOS re-locks on its own — even if Tempo is closed.
My minutes aren’t being credited
Two common causes:
- Apple Health access hasn’t been granted. Check in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Tempo.
- The workout was entered by hand in Health. As an anti-cheat choice, only workouts recorded by an Apple Watch or a third-party app (Strava, etc.) are credited. Workouts shorter than one minute are ignored.
How do I unlock an app?
Tap the locked app, then pick a duration (15, 30 or 45 min). You can also unlock straight from the block screen if you enabled express unlock in the settings.
Why does the app re-lock on its own?
That’s the whole point: iOS measures your real usage and drops the block back as soon as the credited time is used up. It’s handled by the system, so it works even with Tempo closed.
What permissions does Tempo request?
Apple Health (to read your workouts), Screen Time / Family Controls (to block the chosen apps) and notifications (optional). Everything stays on your iPhone — see the Privacy Policy.
Managing or canceling Tempo Pro
From Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone, or from Tempo → Settings → Tempo Pro. On expiry, Tempo reverts to the free tier (1 blocked app) without ever silently disabling protection.
Restoring my purchases
Open the paywall in Tempo and tap “Restore Purchases.” Make sure you’re signed in with the Apple ID used for the purchase.
Requesting a refund
Refunds are handled by Apple, at reportaproblem.apple.com.
